Nokia N90 Mobile Review Print E-mail

Starring Carl Zeiss optics and a full set of advanced digital camera features, the Nokia N90 is targeted at high-technology enthusiasts who value the ultimate in connected mobile photography. Facilitated by its two screens, the Nokia N90 features two ergonomic modes for instant photo and video capture. Simply twist the unique rotating camera barrel, and automatically the 2 megapixel camera is ready to shoot high quality photos, in a snap.

Nokia designed N90 to compete with the new Sony Ericsson w800, and K750. The K750 has dominated the Pre-Sales as it launches May25th. If you are a camera person, this is the phone for you. If you are a Music person, The w800i comes with 512mb of space, but can be added a whopping 2GB.

The quality of the construction is really nice. Rotating parts smoothly bottom into their resting positions. My only uncertainty was awakened by the creaks given out by the cover of the phone's bottom part in the area around the keypad. On the other side, they are not constantly present, but come out under stronger pressure only.

Other that using the basic phone functions, I use it for listening to music, taking pictures and the occasional video. In all of these, the phone preforms very well - especially as a camera. If you are a photo freak, buy a seperate camera - if you like taking photos and want a higher quality camera in a phone, buy the N90.

For me, the biggest fault of this phone is the lack of a vibrate function. However, to compensate - there is a very loud speaker built into the phone, the loudest out of any phone i have heard. Also on the cons is the fairly small memory card supplied with the phone, only 64MB - ideally most users would prefer a bit more space. The phone itself feels solid and quality - and all of the twisting joints are very strong.

While Comparing to SonyEricsson W800(Same 2MB Camera), the photos taken from N90 are not good. But the videos taken using N90 are really appreciable compared to W800. (The videos of W800 are unusable)

The outside screen (which is tiny compared to the main screen) is about the same quality as most main phone screens at the moment.

Due to its bigger size and weight, N90 is not another small pocket toy anymore. I did not stand this stone in my hand for a long time and soon it was travelling into my bag. Even though the phone feels quite comfortable in one's hand, the place, from which one's pointing finger usually backs up the phone, is now occupied by the bulgy bed of the camera. As a result, the phone is likely to overweight forwards.
